I wanted to share a little trip down memory lane. These first pictures are the sewing maching I grew up sewing on. It’s a Viking circa 1980. It’s the machine my mom got when she was pregnant with me, and tells me stories about lugging it to her sewing lessons so she could learn how to make clothes for me. She did an excellent job on all the clothes she made, I might add. ‘Lugging’ is putting it lightly, though. The thing is a boat anchor. I can’t even begin to guess how many pounds it weighs. I’d weigh it if I could haul it to the scale. But it’s very sentimental, and I’ll always love it and keep it.
Look at all those stitch options….wow (If only we could remember where the B and C adapter’s were…
That machine has sentimental value, but THIS machine is my first of my very own. A birthday present from my grandma last year. Isn’t it a BEAUTY?!! Viking has come a long way. I love it! It’s a great machine, and I’ve spent hours upon hours on it. This is Viking circa 2007. The Sapphire 830.
I’m sure a lot of you have machines older than this, and I’d love to see pictures. We have an old table for a foot pump machine that I love. I wish we still had the machine that went on top of it. That would be a great piece to have.
