So on the way to Cincinnati, I got to stop at The Quilt Box. It’s in Dry Ridge, KY, and about half an hour south of Cincy. It was an amazing shop. I had heard great things about it, and it still blew me away. It’s on this little country road, and we actually had just passed it when I saw this sign, and we had to turn around.
Then we drove down this road…
to get to their property, named Walnut Springs. They had a lot of land, with this beautiful pond on it.
If it hadn’t been so hot and muggy that day, we would have had our picnic lunch outside.
It was a really neat shop on the inside, and actually attached to their home. The shop part had 3 huge rooms, and an upstairs room with all the sale ($4/yd) bolts.
This is just one of the 3 rooms. I think I read somewhere they have over 5000 bolts, and I would believe it. It was overwhelming how much fabric there was. The second room was all civil war reproduction fabric, and the last had just as much fabric, but had patterns, and notions as well. There were also a good assortment of 1930’s reproductions in that room as well. I’m not sure of the owner’s name, but she was there and was so nice, as were all the employees. This would definitely be my main shop if I lived in the area. The enormous selection, coupled with the beautiful location was great. When I checked out, they also gave me a free pattern and fat quarter! Also, I got a newsletter that talks about all the great stuff coming up, and a pattern printed on the back of that too. If you’re anywhere close, I would highly recommend the trip. Also, on June 28 they’re having a huge barn sale with everything in the barn $4/yard, and everything left in the shop 20% off. I’m seriously thinking about trying to make the 7 hour drive just for that. According to their newsletter, they have lots of great sales during the year (like $1 fat quarters for a week), and lots of classes.
They also have lots of beautiful gardens, and have gardening classes too! They do it all. Anyway, this was one of the best quilt shops I’ve been in, hands down, and I can’t wait to go back. I decided to get at least one thing from each shop I visited, and I had to get a little more than one thing here. I have decided to attempt this great 1930’s reproduction quilt pattern that has 12,600 pieces! Am I crazy or what??! Well, I didn’t have any of the fabrics yet until here.
These are the great pieces I started my stash with. Whew, just the beginning of day 1 and already so many pictures. If you need any more info about this shop, please let me know.

Gosh you would never get me out of that shop! 5000 bolts, who has to do the stock controlling? Can I volunteer? Lovely photos too, some very unusual plants. Sounds like you had a good break.
Great pictures of The Quilt Box! The Quilt Box is my main shop. I live about 1 hour north but it well worth the drive.
Natalie is the shop’s owner, and her entire staff is wonderful. Enjoy your trips. The pictures of your quilts are lovely.
Visited this shop for the first time yesterday. It was AWSOME!
There was fabric everywhere. I was only looking for one small piece for a border and came home with much more. The barn sale was over but fabric that was left was sold at a discounted price. The staff was wonderful.
Thanks for the pictures but wish you had posted more of the grounds. The flowers and gardens were beautiful, to say the least.
