I was planning on seeing 2 quilt shops that day, but first we had to stop for lunch. We found this great hole-in-the-wall place that you could tell was just for the locals. I could have taken so many great pictures inside, but didn’t want to look like an obnoxious tourist. There was a sign on the front door that said ‘cash only’, and it really looked like one of those places in the commercials. You know the ones for debit cards, and everything is running smoothly and then someone pulls out a check and everything comes crashing down. Have you seen them? That’s what this place seemed like, except with cash vs cards. If you haven’t seen those commercials, then that whole thing probably just really made no sense. But here you go…
And with a name like ‘The Root Beer Stand’, you have to get…
…a root beer float. I think they make their own homemade root beer, and ice cream there, and it was oh-so yummy. I didn’t know what to order, but literally everyone that was sitting in the restaurant had chili cheese dogs, so I figured they were good.
And they were. And I just realized it seems like I ate a whole lot of chili cheese dogs this trip, but I didn’t. Just the one at the ballpark, and this one. I guess it just seemed like I should take a picture of them.
After our tummies were full, we headed to the first quilt shop, only to find that it wasn’t there anymore. We did stop in a small bookshop downstairs, and the shop owner told us that the lady that owned the quilt shop got some sort of a leak inside, and lost everything. How horrible! I can’t imagine how devastating that would be.
The second shop was called Aunt Ruth’s Scrapbasket. It had such a cute name, I had to check it out. It was a little hard to find though, as there was no name on the outside of the shop.
It was a pretty small shop, but she had a good variety, and lots of stuff I hadn’t seen before. And she had TONS of fat quarters, which I love. After shopping around, I decided on these fun polka dot fat quarters for this pattern that I’ll get to eventually.
Tomorrow I get to go to 3 more quilt shops. Yay!
