I hate binding, I really do. I like that it’s the last step, and so as you bind, you really see your project come together. I just hate the process of binding. It’s so boring for me. More specifically, I hate whip-stitching the binding to the back of the quilt. And I’m really slow at it.
Case in point: I finished quilting this quilt what, like a month ago? I got the binding sewn to the front the same day. But I’m only halfway done with the whip-stitching. I’ve spent about 3 hours in a month on it and I’m half done. Does that sound about right? Am I doing something wrong? Which part of the quilting process is your least favorite

Your grandmother told me to tell you she would do all your whip stitching for you. She just finished the Playtime Quilt and apparently doesn’t mind whip stitching at all. She told me this before I read this blog. Lucky you.
I HATE cutting the fabric! Binding I love, it’s my Zen …
I hate the stitching it on by machine part worse. I used to hate the hand stitching part, and it took me forever AND a day to get one done. So, I think it’s just normal, and you will speed up a bit in time. Now, I actually kind of enjoy the sitting and stitching part. If it’s pretty outside, sometimes I’ll take one out on the lawn with me to work on, and car rides, and sitting in bed watching tv.
Sorry, I don’t mind the hand stitching. I try to work it so I am doing the bindings on cool evenings and then I “test” the quilt for coziness. In the heat you all are having I wouldn’t want a quilt anywhere near me, especially piled up on my lap! I does sound like you have a willing partner for your binding though. Good luck to you on it.
BTW, beautiful quilt.
Binding & labeling are the least favorite of mine……
